>> (2) Everyone should get behind CORBA because otherwise CORBA will >> lose against DCOM >Peter, the real agenda is (2). In our book, we tried to make RMI OK -- thank you for the explicit acknowledgement. Few things would make me happier than to see DCOM fail because something replaced it. Volume usage is the key to that. Java RMI already has the volume usage, and it grows by tens of thousands each month. Therefore, shouldn't the CORBA advocates be seeking ways to do CORBA-like things using RMI, rather than pushing the agenda the other way round? Shouldn't CORBA adjust to Java, rather than the other way round? I only ask because I want to know. Let me make clear once again, that this is not an official statement of Sun, that my work at Sun involves deciding when the pathways need to be re-swept, that I don't make decisions involving ORB investment, etc etc. -- Peter van der Linden Java Programmers FAQ: http://www.best.com/~pvdl -disclaimer- unless stated otherwise, everything in above message is not personal opinion and is an official statement of Fun-Fun Novelty Robot Weapons Inc.
