Editors for the disabled

We have a disabled student who can only type using a rod in his mouth. We
are looking for an editor to prepare input for TeX which uses the minimum
number of control, alt and shift characters. It has to work on SCO Unix,
preferably run under X and provide some assistance with TeX semantics.

If you know of anything that fits these specifications could you mail me.
The address is in the signature.

Take your pick, vixen, emaxen, what have you. Any editor worth using has a
fully configurable keyboard interface. As usual, I recommend GNU Emacs. As
usual, someone is likely to flame me for the fool I surely must be :), and will
recommend vi instead.

Try comp.emacs and gnu.emacs.help as well as this group, comp.editors.

Question: Isn't emaxen a editor with a CTRL-SHIFTLEFT-METARIGHT-KEY
mentality even for the simplest editing tasks ?

Regard, Ruben.

True. For the task that the original poster specified (use with one
key at a time), I must, breaking my heart as an Emacs and mg user,
recommend vi (did I actually say that?!?)

Don't be ridiculous. Just because you CAN create ESC-META-ALT-CNTL-SHIFT
doesn't mean you HAVE to. I would recommend an emacs because of the fact that
the interface can be programmed to do more interesting things than just
rebindings and macros.

And of course someone has to preprogram it first using
ESC-ALT-CNTL-SHIFT commands.

Peace,

Tony
