E-mail to fax

I want to be able to send faxes to the UK directly from the PC but
from e-mail or at least over the internet. We are overseas for a
while (outside UK) and fax costs are quite high. I have tried tpc.int
but it delivery seems very unreliable. I have an efax.com number
which is fine but I don't want to have to pay a monthly subscription
to send a handful of personal faxes. I don't mind paying on a per fax
basis.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I too use efax for incoming faxes. However, since I've upgraded to
Windows XP, my printer/fax machine is no use, so I too am looking for
a way to send the odd outgoing fax. Is Microsoft Fax or Winfax any
good?

Many thanks, John - didn't know about fax option in XP as it's not
automatically installed!

However when I did a search, Microsoft info on this also pointed me to
info about www.faxaway.com, which may be of use to OP (seems to have
lower monthly charges)?

I am using Windows XP and use the "Fax" facility for sending only.

I have a separate free fax number from Z1 Telecom - which receives my
faxes and forwards the faxes to me as e-mails in the form of Acrobat
files

That's OK!

Please note that the z1telecom is FREE!

I think you've missed the point of "over the internet", i.e. incurring
only charges to a local ISP rather than a long distance phone (fax)
call.

Thanks

Hence my later post regarding www.faxaway.com. This seems to be
cheaper than efax plus, which is about $100 per annum (I am
considering upgrading to efax plus but only because it will give me an
020 fax number as well as 0870 within that price).
