The Nationalrail website reports that all Silverlink tickets are valid on Virgin trains between London and Liverpool/Birmingham. Does anybody know the reason for this? As this is the case, it seems like a good idea to get a *Silverlink only* First Class return for a mere £30 as opposed to a whacking £75 for Virgin, and still receive the food and alcoholic drinks!

The answer is given at the bottom of that same page: Start date Monday 12 April 2004 End date Wednesday 14 April 2004 Description Due to extended Engineering work Silverlink will not be operating services to and from Birmingham New Street to London Euston.
