I've sent two messages to ulm and they haven't even entered the moderation queue. http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/ucgi/~webstump/l.ulm If this post shows up here then that does suggest my Thunderbird App is working and that ulm and it's system is broken. I doubt I'm the only one unless I'm now blacklisted from entering the moderation queue?

This news client is not so good as a tool to investigate such things but if I wake up the big computer later I will see if the available data is consistent with that hypothesis.

I can confirm that no-one is on the banned / blacklisted poster list. I can also confirm that I can see posts entering the moderation queue and have just approved one immediately prior to posting this. Please try and repost your earlier posts and I'll keep out an eye for them in the moderation queue. One thing to check is that I believe there can be an issue with posts containing certain characters in the subject. I recommend checking the subject for strange characters before reposting. Regards S.P.

A message from me went missing at 11:04 this morning, using eternal-september. From the status page, no posts were received between 19:5x yesterday and 15:3x today. I would guess there was a problem. <https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/ucgi/~webstump/l.ulm>

It would appear to be. I re-posted two posts originally sent via ES which had diasappered via GigaNews which have both shown up more or less instantly in Recent Activity and subsequently on the group. bb

A bit of searching on recent messages on ulm suggests that the most recent one posted to eternal september is: Date: Sat, 1 Feb 2025 10:18:17 +0000 Message-ID: <vnksd9$1ek4$1@dont-email.me> I think we would usually expect to see more than that. I have posted a message in eternal-september.support - there is usually a quick response.

Ray who run ES responded to my article saying it was due to a DNS issue and some articles were stuck in a mail queue. The messages have been sent so we have some duplicates.

Thanks Simon, it seems there was a blockage with Eternal September but my posts now seemed to have got through.

I such a case, always post the Message-ID of your message. I operate one of the mail relays for moderation and I can then check if such a message arrived and how it was processed. You can contact me directly if you want to discuss that not publicly. -- kind regards Marco Send spam to 1738502733muell@stinkedores.dorfdsl.de
