Anyone here please know of an interface design that will enable Archive 2150L SCSI tape drives to be used instead of 2150S on a system with QIC-02 hardware interface? We are using QIC-24 format tapes with an MS221 tape controller in our Ferranti Argus 700 system. Thanks Mike https://bmpg.wordpress.com/

It looks as if the answer is no. But the odd thing is that 2150L is the QIC-02 variant, and the 2150S is the SCSI version. Are you sure of what you have? We only ever used SCSI, but that was rather a long time ago... Andy

For some reason the 2150S is a much more reasonable proposition and have a few in readiness of finding a SCSI conversion to QIC-02. An aside, as you probably know the rubber capstan material can go beyond sticky and become almost liquid; our quick solution is some rubber tubing cut to length, it is a perfect fit over the metal capstan and produces exactly the right diameter!
