Some old manuals/books free to a good home...

Hi,

I'm having a tidy out, and have some old manuals and books that I'm
happy to give away to a good home.

Please email me if interested in anything. Shipping costs will be heavy to
anywhere outside UK, and even within UK! So I may want contributions
towards any postage.

Advice on what to do with anything that isn't claimed here gratefully
received - I'm loath to just throw things in the bin.

Have a word withe Computer Museum at Bletchley Park. I donated all my
old manuals and hardware to them.

Thanks for advice, I've just done that.

I tried that, with some stuff of a similar vintage. They weren't interested.

It /could/ have been because they were already well equipped with copies of
the manuals and hardware items you were offering, rather than simple dis-
interest. Of course, without knowing what, exactly, was said and by whom,
I'm only guessing.

They made it clear they were not interested in my old CRT VGA monitors! But
they accepted some valves and Dad's old Taylor valve tester. And a framed
diagram of the takeovers that led to the formation of ICL.

Mike.

Had a very polite reply saying that they were not interested. I am not
at all surprized.

I got one of those, then I realised I'd emailed Bletchley Park not the Computer
Museum (which may share a site, but is a separate entity)

TBH I was surprised at the politeness of the response given some of the stories
I've heard about the friction between the two institutions.

I think it depends largely on what you're offering, what they've got space for
and how likely they are to be able to work it into an exhibit.

Actually someone has seen my post, either here or in the cpm group,
and did what I asked - emailed me. They want all of the books.
So the skip can stay hungry.
