Highly Unlikely Department:

If you ever come across any Adkins I'd be interested. My wife's great-uncle,
Frederick John Adkin, was rector of St John's Church, Kokstad. I've been,
somewhat desultory, trying to find his children, at least one of whom served
in the RN in WW1 but no further info.

Have you checked the archives indexes?

Not yet, its a low priority search at the moment, my wife's great-great
uncle. The interesting bit is her grandfather (the black sheep of the
family[1]) was named after him.

Actually I did get something from the archives a few years back, mainly
details of his death, attended by his wife's niece.

[1] Children of another vicar, Eldest son (James) went into the Army, second
son (Walter) killed two birds with one stone by becoming a naval chaplain,
third son (Frederick John) fails to complete his degree at Oxford and gets
sent off to the colonies :-)

Many thanks for that, unfortunately I don't think any are the ones I'm
looking for. The family was very particular about being Adkin (singular) as
opposed to Adkins or Atkins, although they did also use the spelling Adkyn.
