NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan have expelled one diplomat from each other's missions in New Delhi and Islamabad alleging that they were involved in activities incompatible with their diplomatic status, a move that may cast its shadow on the process of bilateral dialogue. While Pakistan asked India to withdraw S.K. Chaudhury, attache in the Indian mission in Islamabad on October 6, New Delhi in an apparent retaliatory move the same evening, requested for a similar pullout of Murad Balloch, attache in the Pakistan high commission here. Both the diplomats have been asked to leave station by October 20, an external affairs ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday. The announcement of the latest round of expulsions came within six weeks of both India and Pakistan asking each other to withdraw two staff members on similar grounds. The spokesman rejected as entirely false Islamabad's charge that Mr Chaudhury had indulged in activities incompatible with his diplomatic status. News of the expulsions coincided with the visit of Queen Elizabeth to Pakistan. She is arriving here on October 12 on a week-long state visit.
