I'd like a little help finishing up the identification of the former resistor (yes, "the smoke came out of it") mentioned above. Note that there is a capital omega between the 150 and the J, and the device also says "Riken", which I presume is a brand name. None of my references which list mil-spec resistors lists an "RS" class, so if anyone has a part number breakdown for these things, please send it. Thus far, I gather that this is probably a 150 ohm, 1%, 25 ppm/(deg. C) wirewound resistor. What does the "B" indicate? Does the 2 mean 2 watts, or is it a code like the other mil-spec designations that means _anything_ _but_ 2 watts? Does "RS" designate some particular type of wirewound resistor? Am I correct in believing that it's wirewound? Thanks! -- ----- Greg Thoman: The opinions expressed herein are mine alone, and I am solely irresponsible for them.

Yes, the '2' means 2 watt. RS resistors can be had from Dale, Newark Electronics has them. Newark is a great distributor for small quantities. The resistor is also non-inductive. Allen R. Sounds like 150 ohms should be Ok. Just check that there's not a short down the line that might burn the replacement resistor up. -- ===================================================================== | John Lundgren - Elec Tech - Info Tech Svcs | Standard | | Rancho Santiago Community College District | disclaim- | | 17th St. at Bristol \ Santa Ana, CA 92706 | ers apply.| | jlundgre@pop.rancho.cc.ca.us\jlundgr@eis.calstate.edu | | =====================================================================
