It took a while after the release was finished to actually get a megabyte and a bit to several places around the world, but you might have a look for PGP 2.2 in: nic.funet.fi:pub/msdos/incoming garbo.uwasa.fi:pc/incoming src.doc.ic.ac.uk:tmp/pgp Unfortunately, ghost.dsi.unimi.IT (How could I misspell "it", dammit?) is still having problems, so it's not there yet. (That took a few hours to prove, though.) And we'll have it sent to several other places by the time you read this, although archie won't show it because it only polls sites once a month. For the next day or two, you can go gold-digging in tmp and incoming directories on well-known archive machines. Here are sizes and signatures for the PGP 2.2 distribution archives. First, the public key of the signer: -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- Version: 2.2 mQBYAitRsUkAAAECWNxDzO/UehkXH+B/WazpTgS/IWtqIchIfWnivgN8fHZHAgPn SIrfz3oGKEyFK7w034YOCMa8Wf2FIaOWY+SR9DviNMLKPaH9hlqn8wAFEbQhQ29s aW4gUGx1bWIgPGNvbGluQG55eC5jcy5kdS5lZHU+iQCVAgUQK4tAyOJ13g7/Z/cL AQFhIwP8CXuvdvOuYglgn+4qNxVtW2J1lc4SJZs/xfhZgS84UGYP3x+Vcl/RFfNk 6x5npZG9vY+qwSi3iV1qyZc4Lmp5LjXAzLK6ACooPV9wHR2NZzr9Aa9gHTF3eWx6 RiOt3ENQbPC2PDdeG1h0JbTDBGRAZiSfxkzAVSGnb95bif2HpumJAGACBRArV15U yj2h/YZap/MBAaMsAldVhydtUJwE5u2ZoUX2N6/JHfDpA4T9+2DusEeZREy5Xnd0 SYunXz6FcyEFxFqfJL3hJKS+CTEe0Mrnc4LNFTlYbTTQR06sw+mc+PgΓΌc2 -----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- pgp22.zip: 209409 bytes -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE----- Version: 2.2 iQBgAgUAK5nUCso9of2GWqfzAQHJTwJY1E0lYUStaqbqDwSiUJgwkUQGnAfhvK1K 7J87i1AXNjj1Q0qfi12ZM7KcFUwVJQdWvIXOcF0N8N76aHI6XofshSyNaUEeuCzd 5ALh =TiYv -----END PGP MESSAGE----- pgp22src.zip: 521550 bytes -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE----- Version: 2.2 iQBgAgUAK5nT8co9of2GWqfzAQGKFwJYkxIqmfSqzbevszyAxHw7ejzqpC0GD0of +/YzBIM2paGaBYTLCyQzA1nDVi8B4BlruvDmeLbubBNY3+QZ9QywF/H9UtO55rm+ /Tox =9iDd -----END PGP MESSAGE----- pgp22.tar.Z: 651826 bytes -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE----- Version: 2.2 iQBgAgUAK5nT2co9of2GWqfzAQFaoQJXT79rPPNBKH5EN3i4q0R0qp52YePHh+4u psoIq5s2doSUxAXq4Ey0v0NJ5XR5RgC5/cKBozLRUtq8x+YvGreuT861p5bUcZZW JtKY =1lQl -----END PGP MESSAGE-----

This is getting like Alice through the Looking Glass with people reviewing invisible software. Or am I missing something. (people who suggest "a brain" will get a gypsy's curse). I got my copy from src.doc.ic.ac.uk, but I checked that site again after reading Hollands's post and found that the files have apparently been removed. I've never had much luck downloading files from "incoming" or "upload" directories at ftp sites; I think that you'll probably have to wait until the archive administrators at garbo and other sites get around to putting it into the the main file areas. That should happen in a couple of days, hopefully. -- Alex Strasheim | astrashe@nyx.cs.du.edu | pgp public key available via finger

I checked nic.funet.fi pub/msdos/incoming directory (it won't show up on ftp, by the way) to copy the file to pub/crypt and it wasn't there, neither was it in anewhere else on nic.funet.fi. //Jyrki

An earlier posting said /tmp/pgp which was empty. archie on ic itself said /spool/tmp/pgp which was empty ... God, this is exciting isn't? (answer: no.) (btw thanks to all the people who e-mailed with directions to pgp22. sadly, since personal computer world gave away demon ftp software and published nic.funet.fi and doc.ic.ac.uk 's addresses they've been almost inaccessible, seems to me.) richard -- ----------------------------------------------------- Richard A Hollands s0rah@exnet.co.uk
