The funny key lengths are there because an old modulo multiply algorithm that PGP used would run a bit faster if the two primes were each one bit shy of a full word at the top. PGP 2.1 no longer generates keys with funny lengths.

I have version 2.1, which I ftp'd just a few days ago. Can anyone tell me how 2.1e is different and where I can get it? Is 2.1e the latest generally available version? Thanks.

No. 2.1 is from my understanding. 2.1e is a betatest version, not released to the public. 2.2 is rumored to be out really, really soon now... --Michael
