Dear Retro Guy,

if I try to register to

activation mail sent (message is generated)
but I get none mail

Tried 5 times and still no activation mail received to complete
registration.


Asked for help developers of

Simple Machines Forum software

but get no help
and some developers suggest the forum to be abandoned.

Ok, abandoned or not, if message:

"activation mail sent"

if generated, I should receive one.

Otherwise, I suspect a bug with SMF software,
generating fake message.


Or

"the given email address (my email address) is already in use by another
registered user.
If this is an error, go back to logging page and try to get back
password for this email address

And the bug should be inspected and reproduced by another person,
registering for the forum.

The same bug for Instagram,
not sending email

and the same problem is discussed on the Internet

I am afraid of,
gmail bounces emails sent back from time to time, generating problems
like the above

and we should look for a general solution

My suggestion:

1. Message: "activation message sent

replaced by

Message: "activation message sent at "time stamp" to   "email address"

to be assured,
activation email was really sent to correct email address at a given
time

forum comes with no contact to admin, moderator

and my efforts to contact Dr. Rozanski via email, via his school,
failed


Ok, my question if of general nature to let us work out
general solution to the problem:

"activation email sent, never delivered"

I assume you know I have nothing to do with that site. I've never heard
of it before.

I've used SMF in the past (20 years ago), but nothing since. It was a
pretty easy forum to administrate, I liked it, but I have nothing to do
with it's development.

I worked in human resources for several years and asked this question
probably a million times, "Have you checked your spam folder?"
