ARKO ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR CAREER CHANGE LEAGUE ARTHURSON BY Will Swanton of AAP SYDNEY, July 2 AAP - Australian Rugby League chairman Ken Arthurson said today he would take a backseat to chief executive John Quayle in the running of the Optus Cup competition but would remain heavily involved with the ARL until the end of the Super League war. Arthurson announced he will become the ARL's non-executive chairman while Quayle would remain as the chief executive. "I am not leaving the game, I am simply ridding myself of some of the mundane administrative duties I have done over the years," Arthurson said. "I am still chairman of the board and John Quayle will be managing the business and I see my main role in the future as bringing the clubs together again when we get through the court appeal, as I expect. "When that appeal is announced I will be here, I'll be here anytime of the day or night the League wants me."
