Someone has offered me a Kenwood TS680 for $850. The problem is that I
don't have a clue as to whether or not this is a good price. The radio
seems to be a predecessor of the TS690: all mode, includes 6 m, c.1988.
It is in excellent physical condition (he *says* he hardly used it) and I
have confirmed that it works on all bands/modes.

Is this a reasonable price???

I am also curious to find a source for pricing info so I can figure these
things out for myself. :-)

(he also has a KNWD TM201B 45 W, 2 m mobile for $350, but I'm not looking
for a 2 m mobile :-)

 Greetings everyone -

I was wondering if there were any thoughts on the price for asome
kenwood gear.
TH 77 A (2m/440 ht)
BC 10 fast charger
3 BP 6 battery packs
headset (real kenwood)
speakermic (again Kenwood)
DC-DC for the car.

I found it all at a pawn shop. They are aware that they aren't allowed
to transmit without a license, there's no manual , and I had a
hard time figuring out how to use it. The asking price is $400. It
al looks in good condition. The sales person said that it was sold by
a chap who had lost his job, so I belive that it wasn't stolen.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Peter-

The TS-680 is not a direct ancester of the TS690. It is actually a TS-140
with 6 meters added, while the TS-690 is a TS-450 with 6 meters added.

The TS-140 is still available new. Amateur Electronic Supply has them for
$849 (plus options). Only the TS-680 was discontinued about a year ago,
when the more expensive TS-690 came out.

AES's latest catalog has a used TS-140 listed for $679, and a used TS-680
listed for $789. Their prices are usually a little higher than hamfest
prices, but there is a little less risk involved.
