Some advice on HF/6m equipment

I would be appreciate of receiving any input people would be willing to
email to me regarding the Icom IC-729.  I am interested in its useful
in both the Novice bands for HF and for its 6m capability.

I am thinking of using an MFJ MFJ-1796 halfwave vertical antenna with this
unit.

Is this a good starting unit for both HF and 6m?  Short of the used equipment
route, is this the least expensive way to get into both HF and 6m?

Any other suggestions you might wish to offer would also be appreciated.
