Hi, I just ordered a titanium .42 wide angle lens for my camcorder from Discount Video Warehouse (1-888-camcorder). Can anyone relate information good or bad about this lens or retailer? The lens is .42 titanium with 10 elements in 2 groups and is multicoated. $179.00 Thanks for the reply. Tom Evans

Seems a bit high for a no-name lens. Lenses from reputable mfrs like Sigma, Vivitar, Raynox and Kenko typically cost anywhere from $40 - $125 for their Hi-Res designs. I used to work in a photo store, so I can tell you that "house brand" lenses are generally where photo stores make ridiculous profits on pure junk since you can't compare the price... because it's their own brand. 300% markups and higher aren't uncommon. If you don't see the same brand advertised by more than one dealer, don't ever think of buying it - unless it's much cheaper and you have an opportunity to test it.
