Fully endorsed by the Christian Metal Resource Web Site.

I think he was just commenting on the genre of music, not necessarily the
people in the bands.

I agree to disagree. SkaMania '98 in Marietta GA was one of the most Holy
Spirit-led concerts I'd ever attended. Jason of the Supertones made
SkaMania keep me in touch with my walk with Jesus.

I'd like to see Christians supporting Christians instead of breaking each
other down. Keep in mind that with the Book of Revelation, what's wrong
will be called right, and what's right will be called wrong. Groups such as
the Supertones (BTW, moving away from ska, which might support the
argument), FIF, and the Insyderz are screaming for His word. The bottom
line is that whatever musical style, we'd better be proclaiming His word as
loudly as possible. I'm also in favor of hard Christian music via Blindside
or POD or MxPx.

Just food for thought. Peace, blessings, and...

"Christian" doesn't even come into play when you're discussing a style
of music. (Except when you consider that the only ska that I _do_ like
isn't the Christian stuff...)

Is this weird to anyone else but me? I mean, how Christian is it for us to
go knocking other genres of Christian music? I mean, doesn't that kill the
whole point? Would Jesus say someone else's preaching style "sucked"
because it was different from his? Think about it.

Now, I am most certainly NOT a big country music fan, but I would never go
so far as to make a website about how Christian country music sucks. If
it's preaching the word, it's preaching the word... REGARDLESS of the type
of music it is using to do so. I would simply choose to NOT LISTEN TO IT,
rather than wasting my time attacking it. This Christian Music V.S.
Christian Music thing makes absolutely no sense.

No wonder people think we're all stupid... we're so busy attacking each
other.

Here's all that I have to say about this.

Every person has an opinion. Every person has their right to have an
opinion. Music is one of these opinions. Not every person likes the same
kind of music, but many people have their own favorites. Just because the
style of music contradicts what you like, that is no reason for you to bash
the style. I don't like certain styles of music, but I don't bring it up
every time I hear of that style of music. I think that we need to respect
peoples opinions in the area of music, and every area of life. I mean come
on now. Let's be open-minded shall we? Just because people listen to
something, or believe something, that doesn't mean that you have to listen
or believe it also.

Yup. One of those 'freethinking' 'tolerant' people.

Must be new to Usenet.

Must not be Christian, either.

If this is true....

Then this is valid. If a person thinks a certain style of music sucks,
then they have the right to hold this opinion and express it as they
please.

Ah yes. Teach us about being tolerant.

i have a problem with bashing christian music styles as there are christian
styles that if i don't listen to the christian form i don't listen to
it -rap for instance, i will be the first to say normal rap stinks, but i
have yet to hear something i dislike from the christian area--it's simple
"make a joyful NOISE!"

Amen, Shane. I fully contend here's an instance where we should agree to
disagree regarding our music prefs and shut it down. I personally listen to
Christian bands from Crystal Lewis to the Supertones [and beyond; another
post altogether]. Crystal and the 'tones did a *very* good job with "Away
From You."

Peace, blessings and... Christ *rocks* in the '90s!

Every person has the the right to bash (peacefully) and artist or genre
that he/she does not like. It would be more ideal if he/she could use
more intelligent wording so that listeners would take them seriously,
but I don't have a problem with someone bashing a certain type of music
or even a certain artist. I mean I will bash Yanni and John Tesh and
Marylin Manson all I want without hesitation. Well, since I'm thinking
about it, Sandi Patti and Carman makes me really cringe too, but I will
refrain from making comments :)
