They had a few all stainless steel turkey friers left at Sam's for $69, and my wife wasn't around...so I took the plunge. What I didn't realize is the SS burner stand has a big 3" lip that needs to be cut or trimmed so the ball valve on my pot can protrude through. Short of taking it to a welder and spending a bundle, anybody have experience or ideas on how to clear this hurdle? Thanks in advance!

Lay a steel BBQ grate atop the lip, and your pot atop the grate. As the pot would then be 3" further from the flame than usual, I don't know how this would affect heating. When the flame is high, however, you might actually get better fuel efficiency as I would imagine less of the flame would lick up the sides of the pot. FWIW, I have the same problem, which has prevented me (thus far) from adding a ball valve to my 30 qt. aluminum pot. I'll have to give it a test run to see if it's a viable solution. j EvilTwig <EvilTwig@pig.com> wrote in message news:<Xns934EE161BAF0CEviltwigcom@140.99.99.130>... > orzelbp@hotmail.com (Screaming Eagle) wrote in > news:61a05083.0303301833.793865ad@posting.google.com: > > > They had a few all stainless steel turkey friers left at Sam's for > > $69, and my wife wasn't around...so I took the plunge. If you know an electrician, maybe you can borrow (or rent?) one of those hole punches for EMT conduit. They leave a nice round hole that only needs a little deburring. These are the punches where you drill a pilot hole and then pull the two halves of the punch into each other with a bolt. They are called Greenlea punches sometimes and you'll probably need a pretty heavy duty one. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 80,000 Newsgroups - 16 Different Servers! =-----
