American Death Toll in Iraq Reaches 900 BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP)--A roadside bomb exploded north of Baghdad early Wednesday, killing one U.S. 1st Infantry Division soldier and bringing to 900 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of military operations in March 2003. Maj. Neal O'Brien of the 1st Infantry Division said the most recent soldier killed was on patrol in a Bradley fighting vehicle in Duluiyah, 45 miles north of Baghdad, when the bomb detonated shortly after midnight Wednesday. On Tuesday, two U.S. Marines and two U.S. soldiers were killed in action in Anbar Province, a Sunni-dominated area west of Baghdad. (Anyone know Halliburton's daily profit on its operations in Iraq?) -- A vote for Nader is a vote for Bush; A vote for Bush is a vote for Apocalypse.

If Iran was the problem (it surely was a hell of lot more of a problem than Iraq) why exactly did we go to Iraq? For a bad guy? How many times are you goofballs going to change your story? jps

If you remove the Iranian leadership, then the insurgency dies.

For a bad guy? > > How many times are you goofballs going to change your story? I didn't change my story. In fact, you and I argued about this back in March of *2003*. Here's what I wrote back then: "Go back in my posting history to 2001 and read my immediate predictions following the 9/11 attack. In particular, read how Iraq would be our immediate target after Afghanistan...followed by the terrorist groups in Iran, Sudan, Syria, and ultimately Saudi Arabia. You can't see beyond the liberal nose on the end of your Democrat face. In your fantasy world, cars run on "sugar and spice and everything nice", right?" NOYB, March 2003 (while arguing with jps) --or this-- "Because there's a huge strategic interest in Iraq. Geographically, it's smack dab in the middle of the Mid East minefield. From Iraq, we can launch operations against terror cells in Iran (which we would effectively surround a la our bases in Afghanistan), Syria, and Saudi Arabia. Of course, the Iraqi oil wells allow us to take diplomatic (and possibly military) actions against the Saudis without fear that they'll withhold their oil from us. Of course, it helps our cause that Saddam is such a prick that has never held up to one agreement he's made. So, yes it's about oil...and that's a pretty damn good reason to go to war (just ask the Japs that hit Pearl Harbor). bin Laden knows that the key to beating us is to cripple us economically. Our economy is already hurting. Imagine what an oil crisis would do right now. An elected official can't go TV and say that "we're going to hit Iraq, take their oil, and then start pressuring the country that gave us 14 of the 19 terrorists (Saudi Arabia)". The Saudis would shut down the oil production that very same day." NOYB, March 3, 2003 (while arguing with jps once again). I've been singing the same song since 9/11/01. You just weren't paying attention.

I told you 2 years ago that Afghanistan would be first (in order to disrupt the terrorist training camps), followed by Iraq (for its geographically strategic value and for its oil), and followed by Syria and Iran (in no particular order, but for their support of international terrorist organizations, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and al Qaeda), and eventually even the Saudi Kingdom (unless the House of Faud can quell the fundamentalist rebellion all by itself). Do a google search. I haven't changed my story since day one.
