   Hi,

   Let me comment the following:

>IMHO, you completely missed the point that Brad was trying to make.
>"Mosaic", the software is free from NCSA. "Service" is not free.

Sure the "Service" is not free, but as I have said If and Only If you
have a full internet access (of course, at your company expen$e) then
Mosaic is IMHO an App-Killer for the net. You can access virtually all kind
of services (e.g. read news, ftp files, access Gopher, etc...) using one
application. Best of all, no more typing crazy strings ( i.e. addresses, or
if you wish Locators).

>If a company has a leased line, every bit should be used, and the marginal
>cost is nil. But the billions of dollars spent on phone lines and
>data trunks are not imaginary. They are real dollars.

Yes, they are real dollars and we have the right to benefit from the
last cent we pay. I understand that this service is usually made available
for business purposes. Any use of Mosaic for these purposes is OK. Off
working hours there is no harm in "serfing" the net.

>I will only briefly mention that his request for an Internet primer
>is not met by WWW or Mosaic.

For an Excellent Internet Primer, look for Zen and the art of internet.
It is FREE on the Net. But to explore the net, Mosaic is the way to Go.

>To a person who doesn't know the difference between ftp and xmodem, Mosaic is
>>useless.

Nonsense, The whole idea behind Mosaic is to shield the User (any user)
from the different protocols or services available on the net. Actually,
When you use Mosaic, you do not care wether you are ftp-ing or accessing
Gopher or anything else. What is important is that you are intereseted in
certain info or you need that info.

>Careless use of Mosaic is just about the greatest waste of bandwidth
>currently available.

Yes and No. Yes if this bandwidth is to be used for more important things
then yours. No, it is not a waste if the available bandwidth is >> not <<
used. It is a matter of priority and timing.

>BTW, I support your call for a Usenet news group. But I feel that
>mirroring this list on r.a.s. was a mistake.

I think there is a misunderstanding. Actually, this is to for mahboud
<mahboud@aggroup.com> not me.
