This is an invitation to those of us who don't get the race live, be
it in Europe or everywhere else.

During Homestead, Martin Schmidt, Hans V and myself followed the
real-audio broadcast from cart.com combined with live timing. We also
tried to do some chatting on IRC during the race. We had some
difficulties, but I think I know how to solve them. It was a great
substitue for watching the race live on TV.

Everyone is welcome to the #cart-europe channel on IRCnet during the
race on sunday. The reason not to use #cart is that there was some
americans there who didn't wan't the race spoiled, so we made a new
channel.

A IRC-program can be found free on www.mirc.com. When connecting to a
server use one on IRCnet. If you don't have one for your country,
Martin told me that irc.webbernet.net accept people from other
countries too.

It is common on IRC to use a nickname, but I would suggest that
everyone use a nickname that resembles the name used here on this
newsgroup so everyone know who everyone is.

I will try to be on that channel during qualifying (if something
important social stuff don't happen, since it it saturday evening). It
will be a good opportunity to test if it works for everyone who want
to take part, so the focus can be on the race on sunday.

It will be great if many people show up so we can suffer together by
the lack of live images. It will also be nice to get to know the
people here better.

Qualifying starts 19.15 CET and the race 19.00 CET.

There is a big problem this weekend: until Saturday evening 8 p.m.
Central European Time (CET-6hrs=ET) most IRC servers in Europe and
probably other countries on other continents don't work as a protest
against hackers.
I'm not sure whether this server is linked with all the other ones on
IRC, but if the servers don't work for qualifying, try irc.holonet.org

Hmmm... qualifying will be difficult (see above), but all servers
should be back for the race.

Somehow EFnet causes lags of over 2 minutes. IRCnet is much faster -
at least in Europe.

Unusual to see anybody at all in #cart, usually last year I was in there
during the live CART coverage and I was on my own.

You may want to talk to the people who organise #f1 and #f1live -
especially pRy
There is usually discussion of cart in #f1 anyway, but I won't be there
this week unfortunately :(.

Try #CART on EFNET. There's usually 5-15 people around in IRC.
