Another thing about Commodore, Captain, and Commander.  I remember somewhere
too that Kirk's actual rank was Commander, but since he was in command of a
ship, he's called Captain.  The line was "Commander James T. Kirk, Captain of
the Starship Enterprise."  I don't remember where it came from though, so it
could have been out of a book, comic book,  bilboard, bubble-gum wrapper,
cosmic planetary placement, or any of the infinite sources of material that
people tend to dredge up to quote as "the definitive source on Trek
information"


I just chalk it up as just another inconsistency, and try to enjoy the show in
spite of it, and all the nitpickers.
