Rated - A let down
Poor Isha Koppikar. The khallas girl has sounded a death
knell to her promising career, first by her 'brave'
attempt to play an obsessive bhoot in Krishna Cottage and
now, as a closet lesbian in Girlfriend. For, with the
latest film, Bollywood has proved yet again how
homophobic it is, by pontificating that "ladke ladkon se
pyar nahin karte, ladke ladkiyon se pyar karten hain."
Taking the road less travelled has reduced hotbod
Kopikkar to an obsessive sahela who will not stop short
of murder to deflect a heterosexual relationship in her
'girlfriend' Amrita Arora's life. The latter, for her
part, has elevated being a bimbette to an art form, and
loathes homosexuality when sober, but is decidedly
lesbian when sozzled. And her boyfriend, permanently
grimacing Ashish Choudhary, pretty much summarises how
bigoted we are when it comes to homosexuals.
Watch the flick for Koppikar's J Lo butt, and to snigger
when she calls Arora 'bachcha' and 'babu'.
