To anyone who can assist: I've got a problem with version 18.55 of gnuemacs that I can't solve. When I go through the make in the top level directory xemacs gets created with no problem, but as soon as you invoke it, core dump with Fatal Error (6) occurs. When I invoke temacs interactively and load in all of the files from loadup.el except version.el, I can dump xemacs and it will run. As soon as I try and load in version.el, the dumped xemacs crashes. I am running on a Sparc 2 Sunos 4.1.1 and am compiling without X-Windows. I compiled once with -g and attempted a debug session and got as far as seeing that it crashed in malloc.c and then realized that this could take forever. What really bugs me is that I had a good executable, but lost it along the way. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks a lot. John Palm palm%dodger@att.com -------
