Ooops.  That should read:

(+12 V) the CoCo indicates that the printer is not ready.  More, if I force
RD to +12V, then the CoCo thinks the printer is ready and sends stuff to TD.

The assertion of DTR at +12V seems valid as it goes to -12V when the printer
is in an alarm state.  I *may* go with hard-wiring RD to DTR (with CD) as that
seems to be what others have done.  Still doesn't feel right ...
