Help with rule, please!

My mx site is not physically near us (ca. 100mi). My USENET feed
is through another internet site that is much closer. I'm trying to
write a rule for my mx site's sendmail.cf file that will take mail
directed to me, and ship it to me via the same path as my USENET
feed (i.e. back over one hop of the internet). For example, I want:

kdq@3D.com to become foo!bar!kdq@site.edu

(where site is the nearby internet site, foo connects to it and knows
my machine, bar).

I've tried:

R$*<@3D.COM>$* $#ddn $@usc.edu $:srhqla!venus!$1<@usc.edu>$2

Sendmail actually detects the match, and does the translation:

rewritten as: $#ddn$@usc.edu$:srhqla!venus!kdq<@usc.edu>

but for some reason, it doesn't accept this as the final disposition,
and continues going! Does this kind of line only work in rule set 0?
BTW, the mx site is a Sun.

I realize that what I'm trying to do is somewhat of a nono, but our
mail volume is probably on the order of 10 or 20 KB a day.

Any and all help appreciated. Email's preferred, and I'll summarize
if people are interested. Thanks.

P.S. Please use the address: srhqla!venus!kdq, the NIC is taking
forever to register our domain. (Besides which, the mx site isn't yet
forwarding mail).
