Java3d and DirectX 6.1 which VGA Card to use?

looks like i am running into trouble.... made a nice little java3d
presentation, and it works fine under openGL, but when i try the DirectX
version i encountered problems with screwed up textures with the Hercules
Beast (Savage3D), and crashes on larger textures with the Diamond Viper 550
16mb. does anyone know of good card/driver combination which runs fine with
java3d/directx?

i am using matrox G400 now with directX 6.1 under windows98 with the directX
beta api, and it runs great (and fast!)

make sure that directX and your graphics adapter are installed before you
install the java3d directX api. i have encountered problems not doing so.
even diamond viper 550 works, but the driver could need some bugfixing.
