putting a texture onto a face

Hi!

Can anyone help me, i want to put a texture onto a face, it does look
very good if I
use two layers and then use multiply.
I figured out how I can add colour to a face that it looks like a second
skin, if I select paintbrush,
and then eg green as colour and select HUE in the brush options. then it
looks like a green skin.
but i don't know how to do it with a texture.
don't know how this works with patterns too.....

I have a sample pic here, i want to make the face look like this image:

Probably the best approach of applying a texture to an image is with
the Bumpmap filter which is explained in detail (with examples here):

The other option is to use blending modes similar to the technique
illustrated here:
