I have looked around and can't see it say anywhere that the motor the
HRT is using is a chev... got a link?

Given that they run a Chev motor, I don't think that says much about Holden
V8's at all.

However, your posting does say something about your intelligence.

I don't think so. It's been at least ten years since anyone in V8
Supercars used anything except a race-specific Chev motor.

Holden Motorsport Pty Ltd must prepare their Chev race engines for them.

Don't be fooled by that tag. It's a Chevrolet V8 block (very similar to that
used in Nascar) built upon by Holden Motorsports.

"The Holden Motorsport engine was introduced for 2003. However, Morris'
team, and many other Commodore teams, initially opted to continue competing
with the 18-degree Chevrolet powerplant this year while developing their
Holden Motorsport engines until they were race-ready.
Development on Morris' new engine began six months ago at the team's
workshop located at the Holden Performance Driving Centre. Selected parts
were sourced from the United States, including the block, head castings,
pistons and crankshaft, before assembly and dynamometer testing under the
supervision of engine technicians Arch McMurray and Rod O'Brien"

Forget for a minute that it's a Chev block. *If* it was a Holden block, what
heads would they use to make 620hp from a Holden 5L?
VN ported? no way.
Yella Terra Dash 9? I don't think so.
Despite all else, the development needs to be there for them to have an
engine that both makes the power and hangs together for a tough race like
Bathurst 1000. The Holden V8 doesn't have the heads or development for them
to be competitive. None of the teams would be crazy enough to design and
cast their own heads for a Holden V8. The Chev V8 on the other hand has the
extensively developed, proven, readily available hardware in Nascar racing
to make the reliable power. Given the option of available proven hardware
versus expensive development which may or may not be competitive, any
sensible team would pick the sure thing.

Most of the teams are abandoning the chev V8 in favour of the GM-MS "Aurora"
engine which is very close in design to the "Ford" SVO engine that the
"Ford"
based teams use.

Of course they call the aussie arm of GM motorsports Holden Motorsport.

And here we see the McGoo mentality.
Your dickhead brother dives a car with NO oil pressure and he fucks
the motor.
Therefore all V8 Holden's are shit.

'94 Bathurst I think... maybe it was '95... whichever year they won about
then! At the time LP didn't want to change to the Chev cause his Holden V8
was doing the business! With 8-9years development, it might still be a good
thing.
