I've done all the online research on changing sound /task associations and it seems that Windows 7 defaults to the default Windows start-up theme every time. You can change the association, but as soon as you reboot, it goes back to the default .wav. Has anyone found a way around that?

To change the sound you would have to edit the system file with a resource editor and replace the wav file. http://forum.thewindowsclub.com/windows-tips-tutorials-articles/26373-how-change-windows-vistas-startup-sound.html
