One of the Australian Commercial Free-to-air T.V. networks is
broadcasting the six TOS Star Trek films from about 11:00a.m. Saturday
thorough to about 1:00a.m. Sunday.

I think I'll watch my (ad-free) six DVDs instead!!

Sigh. Only six. They sure could have given us a lot more movies over those
long years.

And on Sunday from about 10:00a.m. through to about 7:00p.m. they've got
ST:Generations, First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis

All this Star Trek activity .... could there possibly be a new ST film
about to hit the theatres??

That will probably not be very soon I think. Afaik they even haven't
started really making it yet.

This is what Memory Alpha shows:

So, refrain from holding your breath. My guess is that, if it comes, it
will be 2024 or later. If it comes sooner I will be greatly surprised.

'Tarantino has said he sees the reboot ...

(Me ... OH, NO, not another reboot!!)

"as an opportunity to expand on those old stories, rather than change them"'

(Me .... Yeah, Sure, like we haven't seen that stuffed up before!!)

I think Tarantino is referring to Abrams' reboot.

And likely unedited too, yes?

Are your dvd's the edited TOS series or the newfangled show with the CGI
additions?

I have the "unedited" DVDs. I understand that the newer BR versions
contain /both/ the original as the remastered versions. I saw most of
those via Netflix recently. I'm underwhelmed by those.

I've seen some of the cgi updated TOS series on Ewetube and have to say I
was in general quite satisfied with their efforts.

I believe they specified that they were going to try and keep the scale of
improvement in keeping w/ the effects of the time and they seem to have
succeeded in my opinion.

In contrast, I've been watching some "strange new worlds" clips and as it's
supposed to predate TOS I always find myself overly aware of the "wide open
spaces" of the sets compared to TOS.

Maybe does not have to be as cramped as "Run silent, run deep", but,
really...
But, that's just me. ymmv.
