Well, I must admit I'm a little frustrated. Pittsburgh had ten more first downs, 50 more yards, and controlled the ball 7 more minutes than Dallas, but still lost. I am somewhat consoled by the fact that it was a three point game with four minutes to go, and Pittsburgh did beat the spread (even the early 11 point spread). Dallas dominated the first half, and never trailed in the second half. Although I have to believe even some of the die hard Dallas fans were beginning to wonder with four minutes remaining in the game, Dallas did what they needed to win. That is what separates the great teams from the good teams. Congratulations Cowboys! As a final note, I want to comment on the sportmanship I saw on the field today. Although there was some dancing going on (by both teams), there wasn't any fighting. In fact, on most plays, defensive players (from both teams) were helping the offensive players up off the turf after the play was over. Kevin Clendenien kclenden@iac.net

It wasn't until the 2nd through 4th games that they appeared to get psyched out when things started to go the other team's way. I do think that the Steelers showed better composure in this game than the Bills would have shown in this game (which would have been the Bills' 5th SB). But there is no way to prove it. cls

The difference between the two teams was Dallas' experience. Pittsburgh is certainly good enough, and I believe relatively young enough to also hit 4 straight. They are, however, also still a class below the best teams in the NFC. Pittsburgh too could lose 4 straight. They never gave up. Neither did Buffalo in their _first_ appearance. The comparison is a fraud until we see 3 more appearances. /Mike : cls -- +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Take the cheese to sickbay, the Doctor should take a look at it as soon | | as possible. -- B'lanna Torres - Star Trek Voyager - 'Learning Curve'. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

As I said before, I love to hate the Steelers.... but I do have a lot of respect for their organization. Yeterday's game did nothing but strengthen these feelings. As it has become a tradition now, both teams gave us another great Superbowl. Back in the 70's some magazzine (I can't remember which one... too long ago) published an article that said something along the lines of "the NFL has to be eternally grateful to thes two teams (Dallas and Pittsburgh) for giving us great games in what usually turns out to be an ordinary game (referring to the SB)". Yesterday's game was no exception. I almost had a heart attack after the onside kick. Let me finish by saying this: Cowher is a great coach. Not because he took the Steelers back to the SB, but because the man stuck to his convictions. How many times have we heard players/coaches say "we have nothing to lose" just to see them get to the game and act like scared puppies. The Steelers could have been finished early in the 2nd quarter, but Cowher's aggressive coaching uplifted his team's spirit to the point that they almost pulled away the W. His comments after the game were, in my opinion, true and very honest. When the idiot announcer from NBC (who kept instigating the Steeler players into making the wrong statement and start accusing each other) asked him whether Cowher thought the Steelers had lost the game (as opposed to the Cowboys winning it), Cowher replied with a "they made the plays and we did not" was just a great touch. Congratulations on a great game and a great season. Your team will be back. THe irony of the game is that Dallas dominated the 1st half and outscored them 13-7. Pittsburgh dominated the second half but was outscored 14-10. Pittsburgh may have stopped the long drives in the second, but when Dallas came within the 20, they scored twice with two play drives. If you can get 14 pts out of 4 plays and 24 yrds., you don't need a whole lot of offense. -- Ciao! ****************************************************************************** Eric C. This may be dallas' last year to go back to the bowl in a while. I SURE HOPE NOT. but it may be. I sense the steelers are on the rise. They have only 9 free agents this year. So this team will be back. As for dallas, if they arent successful with most of their free agents and they dont have a blockbuster draft, this next year may be a long year for us.. again i sure hope not. SUPERCOWBOYS

They nearly pulled off the upset of the year. The Steelers appear to be moving forward. The Cowboys may be taking a step or two back. Watch out for Andre Hastings and Slash to take off. The Steelers are probably the only real scary team in the AFC right now. Even though I grew up rooting for the Cowboys, I hope the Steelers have another great season next year. awoods
