What may be the last breathing Multics site anywhere is scheduled
to shut down for the last time Monday October 30, 2000 at 17:00 GMT
(1:00 PM local) at MARLANT Headquarters in Halifax Canada.

Except, of course, for the one in Alice Springs.

???

Didn't see that one in Tom's site list... care to elaborate?

Additionally, the one in San Juan may still be operational,
but the person who has responsibility for operations there
has not answered my e-mails, so who knows?

The last I heard regarding PRHA was in April 1999. The site needed an 800
bpi off-line T&D tape. At that time the site was still on MR10.2 (with an
updated scs_data.cds to allow boot until 23:59 GMT 1999-12-31). I am fairly
confident that the MR10.2 release will not run post 1999. Most certainly all
of the PDTs and the SAT would contain dates indicating project cutoff. Even
MR12.5, the last release shipped to the field, required Y2K updates, right
Allan.

My guess is they are gone....

Multics in Halifax is now history. The actual shutdown was
17:08 GMT.

As I understand it, this Multics system is to be sold by DND through
Gov't of Canada "Crown Assets" as surplus. This will be without
disks (but disks are supposed to be available though a third
party supplier). Any interested party will need to move quickly
because plan "A" is to rip it apart in about 2 weeks and dispose
of it as scrap metal/plastic.
