And thanks to Paul Green, the Stratus copy of

The master copy of the site at

uninstalled. Many new dates from readers. Sites updated to match.

Since the last change to the site, we have added a story by
Bob Mullen describing the Multics scheduler. This story was
mentioned in www.slashdot.org, which generated a lot of hits.
There were also a few glossary and address changes.

This was an emergency update, to try to counteract the
"slashdot effect." The Multics website had over 100,000 hits
Tuesday, and would have had more except that my ISP limits
hits and bandwidth. The slashdot page went up about 7:20 PST:
we had about 26,000 hits in each of the 8:00 and 9:00 hours and
got cut off. I requested temporary relief from the quotas, and
we were back on the air by about 11:00. I am sorry for the
inconvenience.

Thanks to Dave Vinograd, the City University copy of
the Multics web pages at
  http://www.staff.city.ac.uk/~sh392/multics/multics.html
has been updated as of 03/05/99. (note new URL)

And thanks to Paul Green, the Stratus copy of

Hmmn: if we keep publishing things that will
impress the Linux crowd, we'll see this problem
	again.

Should I prechance use one of the mirror sites if I
post a notice in the future?
