Her car is still in NV, in her mother's driveway.

The reviews for car transport companies were not good, but I thought
it would get here eventually. It's been almost a month and not even
picked up yet.

It's a VW Jetta. Anyone want to drive it cross country?

I'd do it if I had the time. Let me tell you a little story,
Someone, every word of which is true. I have transported cars for
companies across country several times. You pay your own gas and they
provide the car. At the time the deposit was $100, probably more
now. When you return the car you get the money back as long as it's
in the same condition. Also, before they give you the car they ask if
you're driving alone or with a partner. If you say you're alone
they'll give you 7 full days to get across.

So this one time me and my friend Big Dave are heading from L.A.
to Pennsylvania, so I went down to the AACON Car Transportation
company and applied for a car going near Philly. They asked if I was
the only driver. I said yes because I wanted the full 7 days. If we
get back to PA in just 3 days, we get to use the car like it's our own
for almost 4 days. So they sent me to this guy named Weatherington
who lived on Palos Verdes Penninsula, a really wealthy area. He gives
me the keys to his car, a thundebird going right outside Philly, and I
drive away. Now me and Dave are in Flagstaff Arizona and I'm in the
back sleeping when he pulls over and wakes me up to tell me the engine
is freezed up and won't start. We got a tower to a gas station and
called Weatherington. He wasn't even pissed. He told us he'd take
care of everything and wire us money instantly to come back and get
his second car to take to Philly. So we took a bus to Palos Verdes
and got his second car and took it to PA in a little over 3 days,
which meant it was ours to play with for 4 days. On the third day the
engine froze up and we had to call Weatherington, and man oh man was
he ever pissed. Then I called AACON to explain what happened and they
were screaming at me over the phone, "You son of a bitch, you'll never
drive another car for us." And then I actually had the verve to ask
if there was any chance I could get my $100 deposit back. They hung up
on me. Hey, it was just two bad experiences that happened back to
back, doesn't mean I was a bad car transporter, man. I'm serious
Someone, I'd drive it for you if I had the time, but it's along way
from NC to NV, and I don't fly and I hate the bus. Good luck. Hey,
why not just keep it in NV. She might need it if she ever returns.

So individuals in this newsgroup have better driving reviews?

Forgot to add the funny part. There are other funny parts I'm
leaving out too. Big Dave was a real impulsive and impatient type. I
was driving Weatherington's second care through Indiana with Big Dave
nodding in the front seat when he suddenly bolted up and asked where
we were. "Just entering Indianapolis", I said. He grunted, then
nodded off again.

About 20 minutes later he bolts up again and booms, "We're the
fuck are we now.?" ....... "Just now leaving Indy", I said, as
suddenly he whipped his fist into the window and basically splattered
it into a big spiderweb. Then he nodded off again. I wasn't happy
with it since mine was the name on the contract. Looking back only a
short time later, the whole thing was funny. We took both this guy's
cars on cross country trips. One of them only made it part way. The
other almost got there. Both of them totally useless. The guy goes
to a company to trust his cars for transport and winds up losing both
of them to extremely costly repair.

I'd have to do a cross Atlantic first. But if you'll pay me, I make a
stop at the Super Bowl and have a good time.

I'll drive that shit. Fuck ya. You'll have to fly me to Nevada
though, and give me a couple nights to hit the strip. I'll also need some
spending money and accommodations. Then I'll have it there in a jiffy!

btw, there's no spare tire... we drove through the high plains
without a spare. But then she's had the car over a year and when I
asked if she'd changed the oil recently, she said: You're supposed to
change the oil?

In Vegas, we stayed at Hooters Hotel two nights-- what a depressing
place.

The Cannery East, now that's classy. Shoulda stayed there all 3
nights, and not just 2 am to 5am the night before flying out.

I've never liked Vegas. Never will...

At least the hobo ate well.

I am proud of some of my road adventures. Several times I've
driven across without a red cent. I'd bum gas money at rest stops.
Some people would ask if I really wanted it for gas, then ask me to
follow them to a station where they'd use their credit card to fill it
up. I made it from PA to CA on all cashless occasions in less than 4
days.

One time I was with my buddy in Ariz outside a gas station trying
to bum some gas money for a 55 chevy I bought in PA for $50 back in 71
or thereabouts. The guy who ran the station came out and said he
didn't like us bumming money outside his store. Then he pointed to a
guy taking apart a small airplane in the desert and told us he might
need some help. He paid us $10 each to basically sit around all day
and every so often get up when he needed something heavy carried. His
job was to clear up air crash sites, small planes that go down with
maybe no fatalities, just a damaged plane. So me and my buddy stayed
out there all day and got a nice burn on our faces for it, the start
of a good tan, and the $10 came in handy. But I asked the plane guy
if he could possibly spare just a bit more. I told him what he gave
us would get us to L.A. but would leave us with nothing to eat. He
said he couldn't afford cash but he'd be willing to fill my tank up
with airplane fuel. I asked if it would hurt. He said he didn't
think so. I remember when he poured it out it was kind of red. He
put it in containers which we drained into my tank. By the time we
got to L.A. the thing was smoking like something I'd never seen. I
had to park it or get stopped by a cop. It was severe. A week or two
later I played my car against $50 in a game of pool. I was a better
player than the other guy but had to spot him. I lost. He got the
car, but I never saw him drive it. He may have had it towed to a junk
yard and got some cash for that. Also, I didn't lie to the guy. I
told him about the smoke and everything else about the car.
