There does not seem to be a newsgroup for Who's Who In American High Schools.
I feel there is a great need for a group like that since being on that list is
an honor.

There should be lots of people who could share their opinions on this topic
and maybe we can help other parents to get their kids to this high level of
academic and social achievement.

Proud mother of two, count them twice now, two Who's Who In American High
Schools students.

For information on creating a newsgroup see...

Information for using deja.com to provide justification for an alt.* hierarchy
newsgroup can be found at...

Groups are not formed for worthy topics unfortunately, they are
formed because of traffic. That means there is active discussion
going on now about the topic that is overwhelming a general group or
is scattered over a great many groups. A search for "who's who" (in
quotes) turns up no traffic at all, so it would be difficult to find
people who would request the group from their providers.

Finding these people becomes the problem. Alt groups are usually
only carried by requests to providers. Without a great many requests
to different providers, posts can't find pathways from one ISP to
the next across the net. Remember that a control message only puts a
group name on a list for news admins. It's a long step from there to
a viable newsgroup.

You haven't posted anything to Usenet on the topic that I can find.
I suggest you open a discussion in a parenting group on the topic of
developing a desire in children for achievement for its own sake.
Being listed in a book should not be a primary goal IMHO.

 Here are some possibilities:

alt.parents-teens Parent-teenager relationships.
alt.teens.parents No description.
mensa.sigs.giftedchildren A forum for parents,teachers,and children
misc.kids.moderated Parenting questions, ideas, and experiences.

This is not the best place for a mother to be. I do not think they
will give you much help in here and you should ignore the flames I bet
you get.

THere shouldn't be, in alt, if there's a need for this it should be in the
us.* hierarchy.
