I'm having trouble with my domain email server and need to change my password and extend the timeout. The solution they give is below, but I don't have Outlook installed on my desktop, phone or tablet. Can I do what they suggest using Thunderbird? 1) Open MS Outlook. Go to File> Info> Account Settings. 2) Select the default email account and click on Change. 3) Verify your details and click on More Settings. 4) Under Server Timeouts, modify the length of time according to your need and then use the OK button to finish the process. -- Jim the Geordie

Try this; https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/outlook/email-and-calendar-software-microsoft-outlook Login and then just do the 1 to 4 steps they've given you. Ed

You sure the timeouts were generated by having some anti-virus/malware program interrogating your e-mail traffic? Such inspection is superfluous, and used to bloat the feature list of such software, but the inspection will delay delivery from server to client, or client to server, or both, and can cause timeouts, especially if the local proxy for the AV software becomes slow or unresponsive. Disable interrogation of your e-mail traffic by whatever 3rd-party AV software you use (Windows Defender does not waste time inspecting e-mail traffic), restart Windows (to ensure their proxy is no longer passing the e-mail traffic even if no longer inspecting it), and see it timeouts go away.

I have an MS account, and have never seen any timeout settings in their webmail app. I just checked by logging into their webmail app, checked settings, and there are no timeout settings. In fact, step 1 does not impossible, and step 2 does not apply since the webmail app only connects to the MS server (there are no multiple servers or accounts to check). Step 3 is also not applicable. Their webmail app does not need to access their mail server. It has direct access to the mailbox. In contrast, local e-mail clients may have timeout settings. In Tbird, you can change the timeout (for all server connects) by using the advanced editor, as noted in: https://proton.me/support/thunderbird-connection-server-timed-error Besides the mailnews.tcptimeout parameter, another parameter got added per the following bugzilla ticket: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id18455 So, another parameter to look for is mailnews.tcptimeout_append.

Whether it works or not I won't know, until it doesn't :o?
