I may as well repy to your post here rather than in the other thread. > Can i mix pc2100 and pc2700 in one motherboard? i might start off with > 2100 256mb and then pc2700 512mb later on. I'm sure I read somewhere that if you have two speeds of memory then your mb will access both at the slower speed and therefore there is no point in getting the higher speed of memory. > i will try to look into the ddr333/pc2700. how much speed is increased > if i choose pc2700? 512mb is $207 compared to $167 on a pc2100.. my cpu > will be 2.4ghz. i dont wanna shed anything more than that rght now. Go with PC2700 over 2100 it's worth the cost. A sysmark 2002 benchmark showed that PC2700 offered an increase of 7 points over 2100 from 230 to 237 although memory will still be a limiting factor on your system, but probably an acceptable one. To put it into perspective, the system I'm using atm is an XP1800 with either 2100 or 2700 with a Geforce3 TI200 and I'm yet to find a game I can't run on maximum settings. It was bought, and not by me so I don't really know the specifics. I'm not allowed to overclock it either :( Ach well, the new system is going to be watercooled an o'clocked pretty hard, stability warranting.
