Okay, I'm put in an awkward position. I assure you that I didn't make this up (that would defeat the purpose of writing this message), however I can't give you the name of the Discovery Channel program that I saw this is (on Foxtel, naturally). But anyway, in this program it talks about it taking 1 1/2 years one way to Mars. I assume that this was also the time in which Pathfinder was launched, it's destination, Mars (December 4th - July 4th) which is over 6 months as it is. Now supposing that you are going to get to Mars in 6 months with a greater mass. That would mean that you will obviously need a greater amount of fuel to go through Earth's atmosphere, and more fuel to actually build up the velocity to make it to Mars in such a short time. I wish I could actually give you the program's name so that you might be able to refer to the Discovery Channel for this information, but unfortunately I can't. I will keep you posted if I find out more about it. G.
