Essayist, have you even been to the American South?  Are you even American?  Do you have a clue of what you even speak of?  What you write of can be said of the The South of the World- Australia, who once classified their Aboriginals under "flora and fauna"-- that sounds even worst than the American South.  You said you know minorities, that don't mean anything-- some of the Nazis that turned in Jews, knew them; abusers and rapists often know their victims.  Knowing someone means nothing, but seeing their perspective as your own is true understanding.

First of all, it was Arizona, not Virginia. I wound up on the street because I went there to see a woman, and she did not have a place for me to stay. During that time I had some amazing experiences, including many revelations.

Regarding masturbation: Screw you. Not only did I never do that, but I have this to say. If we are living in a world in which someone is being harassed, 20 years down the road, for something that he did not even do, then I don't want to live in such a world.

There's no need for that sort of attitude, Ilya.  I said that you were escorted from the university library (not arrested, but escorted) for *allegedly* masturbating.  That is the truth, is it not?  I took it, to the best of my recollection, from your own account (not from those of your accusers).

My point was that you'd had an unpleasant experience during your stay in the South (IIRC, the alleged masturbation incident took place in Virginia), and that your views of the South/southerners were based on, and colored by, your own unfortunate experiences.

I'm neither accusing you nor condemning you, so your plea for forgiveness is utterly beside the point.  

However, if you insist on using this poetry group to post off-topic essays, I shall continue to point out the flaws in your logic, and (when applicable) the life experiences that may be influencing your extremely narrow-minded perceptions.
